Any more feedback? The more you tell us the more we can help. Can you help us improve? Resolved my issue. Clear instructions. Easy to follow. No jargon. Pictures helped. Didn't match my screen. Incorrect instructions. Too technical. In fact, the way it currently works is pretty much the opposite of how it should be. It makes sense that in LIBRARY mode it switches to whatever media is inserted, but if something's already playing it should under absolutely no circumstances switch away from that.

Okay, one circumstance - if you eject the media that it's playing off. Hah, actually I see my original complaint is already referenced on this thread by Stephane B. Bit depressing to see it hasn't been fixed in three years. Windows 8 - Problem still happens however that if you are using the 'desktop' windows media player.

If you use the built in "Music" app in Windows 8 Metro App this does not happen. Not sure why they built this so called 'feature' into one app and not the other but at least its a solution. You probably want to change the settings to "Take no action" please, i have already asked not to "tell to go to control panel and change autoplay settings: it takes no effect. Saturday, October 24, AM. Saturday, October 24, PM. Sunday, October 25, AM. You can find my e-mail address on my website. If not, you probably need to delete them from the library, and re-add them through Tools - Advanced - Restore deleted library items.

This will allow WMP Tag Plus to read the files' metadata, including length, which should in turn make the files seekable while playing. The plug-in currently doesn't handle album art, but this might be added in a future version. Sunday, October 25, PM. FLAC media is included into library as "other media" and WMP doesn't display a column "length" for this type of files.

Monday, October 26, AM. Thanks for the report. Unfortunately, I need more information such as a crash dump to find out the actual cause, which isn't possible since the crash only happened once unless the LocalDumps setting is enabled on your system. That definitely means that the files need to be re-added. On re-adding, WMP will put them in Music instead of Other Media, you should be able to see their length, and they will be seekable while playing.

Tuesday, January 19, PM. Maybe, I misunderstood something, it seems to me that in such way we can configure autoplay settings in operating system to disable immediate starting of setup file of programs and the music on audio media, but the goal is just to make windows media player less aggressive. I don't want to turn off setup autorun and, maybe, I even have no objections to automatic music playing, but I don't like the behaviour when WMP starts doing this while playing other music.

Wednesday, January 20, AM. As noted, it's not AutoRun, it's the player responding to the device insertion notification auto insert notification. Options: A: don't be running the player when you insert something if you don't want the player to dumbly try to make the generally sound guess that you're about to want to play that B: be already doing something in the player so that the player understands it's already running for a reason and doesn't bother switching over When the player is sitting around doing nothing and you insert something, it figures that there is a reason it was running and that there is a reason the media was inserted.

That may be a bogus assumption for your content, but that's the general logic as meant to improve the lives of the many gabillion people confused by how to play their media. Wednesday, January 20, PM. Sunday, January 24, PM. Syncronization is also a problem, because I don't see how to turn it off for my flash drive. When I plug it in WMP always switches "now playing" tab to "sync". It is a bit annoying, but, fortunately, it doesn't interrupt the playing maybe, because I don't store music on my flash drive.

Anyway, "In the Player, sync is the process by which digital media files are copied from your Player library to a portable device, after which you can play the files on the device. Monday, January 25, AM.

Hello zachd! I would hope that since Windows 7 is doing so well in the press currently, that there is possibly someone within Microsoft who would be interested in fixing this sooner rather than later? Thursday, January 28, AM. I just found this thread after being annoyed by the behaviour one too many times I inserted a mainly data disc with a few sound bites; the music I was listening to stopped, and the sound bites started -- annoying!

Sad to see there's no way to alter this behaviour! Saturday, February 6, PM. Wednesday, March 10, AM. I will have music playing as an MP3, or even have the player idle while I change discs. After inserting my disc, WMP automagically starts playing. This pisses me off as I wish to do other things before starting the music; namely I'm trying to manually synchronize various things outside of the computer with the start of the music.

Friday, March 12, PM. What other media software is installed? I would think that some other media application is "helpfully" setting up its own AutoPlay. If there's some Dell or Creative "media" management software running on that box, that might be suspect.

A couple of month ago Microsoft admit somewhere in this forum that this crappy unwanted autoplay is the "normal" behaviour by design! So there is no solution to solve what microsoft consider as "normal". Saturday, March 13, AM. I just can't figure out why do they consider this behaviour as "normal"? Was it so hard to add a little option to turn this stupid thing of? Why do they alwas think about idiots and forget about those who know how to play the media when they want?

Saturday, March 13, PM. Okay, this looks pretty much like every other problem on this forum that rises above the level of "can't find my off button". In other words this issue is still unsolved.

I made every effort to try to report this as a bug but the websight for reporting bugs is so Has anyone succeeded in reporting this bug? Or any bug for that matter. I don't know if anyone from MS ever reads any of this but wow is MS Connect intended to be the most user unfriendly websight in existence? You could spend hours going back and forth between useless, useless and useless. Monday, March 15, AM. When I tested it, this caused WMP to list the tracks but it did not play it. Without this key, or with it set to "1" it opened up the disc, listed the tracks and started playing.

Please let me know if that helps! Nope sorry but that doesn't work in MP12 thanks for the suggestion though. For up to 6 people. Premium apps. Try 1 month free. Was this information helpful? Yes No. Thank you! Any more feedback? The more you tell us the more we can help. Can you help us improve?
