I know some DNS providers give you nice forms to complete, so you don't actually see the full DNS record, but maybe you can screenshot what you've entered in Network Solutions and block out any sensitive information. That makes a lot of sense. I tried to look up the difference when I was adding the record, and I thought I had it on the right line but I guess I didn't fully understand. I'll update the record and see how it goes. It might register as a tilde but who knows.

We've always used NetSol but no real reason to stay. I might look into alternatives. Just to be clear: issues with certain characters not being accepted as input or DNS record types not being recognized are first an issue with the front end portal you are being presented with to take your input.

It is not necessarily a problem for the name servers. It may also be a difference for a vendor as big as Network Solutions whether you are using a free consumer account, or something of a business level.
